Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah (BBBSU) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating and supporting one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. Serving children aged 6 to 18 across Utah, including Summit and Wasatch Counties, BBBSU matches caring adult volunteers ("Bigs") with children ("Littles") to foster growth, resilience, and opportunity.​

Mentoring Programs

BBBSU offers several mentoring programs to accommodate different needs and schedules:

Community-Based Mentoring: Bigs and Littles meet 2–4 times per month for activities like hiking, visiting the library, or attending events.​

  2. Site-Based Mentoring: Matches meet weekly at designated sites, such as schools, to engage in activities and build relationships.

  3. Mentor 2.0: A technology-enhanced program where mentors and mentees communicate weekly online and meet monthly in person, focusing on college and career readiness.​

These programs aim to help Littles achieve success in school, avoid risky behaviors, and improve self-confidence. In 2023, BBBSU supported mentorship programs for 103 youth in Summit and Wasatch Counties.

How to Get Involved|

Enroll a Child: Parents or guardians can enroll their child to be matched with a mentor.

Become a Big: Apply online to mentor a child and make a lasting impact.

Donate: Support BBBSU financially or through clothing donations to help sustain their programs.​

  • 100% of Littles graduated high school.

  • 98% avoided substance use.​

  • 93% had fewer or no increase in school behavior issues or bullying behavior.

  • 90% maintained or improved emotional regulation abilities

  • 89% maintained or increased their positive peer relationships. ​
